Usage & billing
Plans, seats, metered resources, and where an organization manages billing.
Local Proliferate is free. Billing exists for hosted work: cloud compute and, when it's enabled, model usage routed through Proliferate's model gateway.
| Scope | |
|---|---|
| Who | Owners and admins manage billing and view organization usage; members see their personal meters in the sidebar |
| Applies to | Cloud and the managed gateway — local checkouts and worktrees are never metered |
| Plan | Hosted cloud billing must be enabled on the account or organization |
| Affects | The organization |
Plans and seats
Organizations bill per seat; adding or removing members updates the subscription quantity immediately and invoices the prorated difference right away, rather than waiting for the next period. Packaging and prices change faster than docs can, so the in-app Billing pane is the source of truth — read the plan and per-seat amount there rather than from a table here.
What Proliferate meters
Two hosted resources are accounted for separately, from separate balances:
- Compute — hosted runtime for cloud sandboxes, measured in PCUs.
- Gateway model usage — model calls routed through Proliferate's model gateway, measured in USD.
Running out of one does not affect the other.
Bringing your own agent subscription, provider API key, local model, or internal gateway keeps model usage on infrastructure you already pay for. Usage on your own keys or gateway is not metered by Proliferate, and no second model subscription is added on top of those credentials. See Agents & model access.
Balances and billing management
For owners and admins, the in-app Billing pane shows current entitlements, compute and gateway balances, and the actions available to the organization. Invoices, receipts, and payment methods live in the customer billing portal, reached from that pane; there is no separate hosted docs surface for them. Members do not get the organization-level Billing or Usage & limits panes; their sidebar meters show only their own usage.
For self-hosted deployments, your own infrastructure, model gateway, and provider accounts are the source of truth for cost — there is no Proliferate-hosted billing surface.
